The Scriptures tell us that in God's time, the day begins with evening (“the evening and the morning were the first day”), so our Sunday services actually begin with a Vespers service Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m. Vespers closes the day that is past and begins the Lord's day to follow. Vespers generally lasts about 45 minutes.
On Sunday morning, a short service, starting at 9 a.m., called “Hours”, continues the services of the Lord's Day, and Hours is followed immediately by the Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. After Divine Liturgy we typically have a Coffee Hour where we share food and refreshments together. Everyone is welcome!
On the OCA’s Scripture Readings page, you will find the texts of each of the Scripture selections appointed to be read in church for each day of the year.
The OCA’s Feasts and Saints page provides wonderful life stories, icons, and prayers (troparia and kontakia) for many saints commemorated for each day of the year.
We hope to see you soon!
